AAM Announces New "Dual Drilled" Dodge 9.25" 3.92 Ratio Ring and Pinion Gear Sets
Posted: May 23, 2016
American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM) announced the development of a new 9.25" gear set for the light duty Dodge/Chrysler corporate rear axles.
This 3.92 ratio gear set has two sets for holes for ring gear bolts. One set is U.S. standard threads for vehicles made prior to 2011. The other set of bolt holes is metric, and used in vehicles produced 2012 or newer.
The part number for the 9.25" gear set with the dual drilled hole pattern is D925392GSKDD. The D925392GSKDD gear set fits the Durango, Dakota, RAM 1500 truck, RAM Charger and rear wheel drive passenger car applications from 1970 to current.
The part number stands for: "D" = Dodge. "925392" means it is a 9.25 inch ring gear with a 3.92 ratio. The "GSK" indicates the gear set will come as a kit with the pinion nut, spacer and washer included. These components must be used when installing this gear set because the pinion gear threads are not the same as the Dodge OE threads. The "DD" means it is dual drilled with two sets of bolt holes.
These gears are available now and can be ordered as part of a standard stock order.
The 9.25" - 3.55 ratio dual drilled gear set is in development but will not be available until later this year or the first half of 2017. The current Dodge 9.25" gear sets in the 3.55 and 3.92 ratios with one set of ring gear bolt holes for the pre-2011 applications are still available.
